Eco/Logic, July 29 - Sept. 6, 2008
Eco/Logic A hybrid exhibit: artists/activists/community.
imageStriking a balance between Pretty Pictures and Doom and Gloom, Eco/Logic was an environmentally themed exhibit coinciding with Hawaii Conservation Week. This multi-disciplinary exploration of environmental issues included an Open Call to Artists, invitations to key artists and neighborhood groups, Hawaiian and environmental activists, commissions, and community projects. Over 5,000 people saw this show and the collaborations initiated between the arts and environmental communities continues.

Special Projects: Celebrated prints of rare Hawaiian species from “Remains of a Rainbow” by David Liittschwager and Susan Middleton courtesy of The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, powerful agitprop about the rising tides from Sierra Club’s Sea Change Project, and Mat Kubo’s commissioned community art project OffTheGrid: ActionFunUrbanSurvivalism http://www.matkubo.blogspot.com.

Supporters: This is the first exhibit of contemporary art at Marks to be partially funded by a generous two-year grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation. Hawaii Arts Alliance is a member of the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network.
