In these difficult economic times, it is more important than ever to recognize the value the arts bring to our community. We know that the State will be implementing budget cuts across all agencies, and we have been gathering information about how that will deeply affect the arts community. As part of the Alliance’s mission to advocate for all the arts in Hawai‘i, we have been in touch with many arts groups across the state who will be impacted by these funding cuts. We endeavor to represent their interests to our public officials.
As an example, the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) through its grants programs supports a depth and breadth of arts groups and programs unparalleled by any other single Hawai‘i agency, and through that support, leverages considerable resources that benefit our State and our fellow citizens.
Hawai‘i Arts Alliance is currently shaping an email database of our members interested in receiving arts legislation, and community arts news with breaking announcements throughout this legislative session and the year. Please join our E-arts community by becoming a member of the Hawai‘i Arts Alliance and our “Arts Alliance Action Network (link).” You can call the Alliance for membership information at (808) 533-2787, or visit our website at hawaiiartsalliance.org. .
